Hi. Can anyone please tell me what the opposing exercise for an overhead press would be if performed in the frontal plane? Also, what would the opposing exercise be if it were performed in the sagittal plane to allow for a shoulder modification?

Hello,
During the overhead press in the frontal plane the medial deltoids and triceps are the prime movers. The muscles that oppose them are the latissimus dorsi, the teres major, and the biceps.
If the overhead press were to be performed in the sagittal plane for shoulder modification, a seated low row would be a good movement that would utilize the latissimus dorsi, the teres major, and the biceps.
